Austin Allen has been an improvement under center, leading this offense to more success through the air than it’s had in years. He has passed for 2,501 yards and 20 touchdowns while developing three 400-plus yard receivers.
Don’t sleep on Arkansas’ run game, either. Rawleigh Williams is a load to handle for defenses and he has put together a 1,000-yard campaign already. He’s averaging 5.2 yards per carry and has seven touchdowns. Devwah Whaley has also performed well on the ground.
Conversely, Mississippi State has been disappointing as the post-Dak Prescott era has not started off as well as planned. Dan Mullen has been under fire all season long for terrible losses, but the Bulldogs are still in contention for a bowl bid.
Nick Fitzgerald has been the replacement for Prescott under center and he has not been nearly as effective as his predecessor. He has passed for 1,850 yards and 16 touchdowns but he does lead the team in rushing with 854 yards and eight scores.
Fred Ross and Donald Gray have stood out as the team’s top receivers, both putting up over 500 yards on the season thus far. They have combined for 1,251 yards and 13 touchdowns on 87 receptions.
