Nick Saban adds former Ole Miss coordinator to Alabama's offensive staff
Alabama is hiring former Ole Miss offensive coordinator Dan Werner as an analyst to work with the Tide coaching staff, a source told FOX Sports on Tuesday.
Werner, who was let go by Hugh Freeze this winter as he reshaped his staff after a 5-7 season, had helped spur the Rebels to two wins over the Tide in the past three years. And in 2016, Ole Miss scored 43 points in a 48-43 loss to Bama. Werner should assist new Tide offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who was hired to replace Steve Sarkisian (who briefly had taken over for Lane Kiffin).
In 2015, Werner helped Ole Miss set program records for scoring (531), touchdowns (68), total offense (6,731 yards), passing yards (4,351), passing touchdowns (35), 50+ point games (4) and games with more than 600 yards of offense (3). The Rebels also led the SEC and were top 10 nationally in scoring (40.8 ppg), total offense (517.8 ypg) and passing (334.7 ypg).
