Georgia gained another playmaker on National Signing Day, this time at the expense of Alabama as the former Crimson Tide receiver commit Tyler Simmons flipped to the Bulldogs at the last minute. The 5-foot-11, 194-pound Simmons decided the in-state pull was too much and will help new coordinator Jim Chaney and the UGA staff turn around the offense in Athens.

Simmons is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 33 prospect in the state of Georgia by 247Sports. The speed receiver also held offers from Miami, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M and Nebraska among many others.

With the decommitment of Simmons from Bama, Kirby Smart wins yet another head-to-head recruiting battle with his former boss Nick Saban and proves he can recruit at the highest level within the SEC. It should be interesting to see which team wins the most head-to-head commitments, but in the early hours of signing day, the Dawgs are the clear leaders in the clubhouse.
