Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has accepted the FAU head coaching job, a source told FOX Sports Monday morning. Kiffin has agreed to a five-year deal with the Owls.

The 41-year-old Kiffin rejoins the head coaching realm after spending three seasons with the Crimson Tide. He helped Nick Saban lead the Tide to three straight SEC titles and a National Championship in 2015.

Kiffin will remain Alabama's OC throughout the College Football Playoff, according to multiple reports.

It is the fourth head coaching stint for Kiffin, who made the jump to the NFL in 2007 as the Oakland Raiders head coach. He was fired halfway through the 2008 season and returned to college, taking over Tennessee's program in 2009. After just one season in Knoxville, Kiffin left for USC, where he remained for three seasons. He went 35-21 overall in his head coaching stints Tennessee and USC.

Kiffin takes over an FAU program that recently fired Charlie Patridge, after the Owls' third-straight 3-9 season.

Prior to accepting the job at FAU, Kiffin had been targeted by LSU to join Ed Orgeron's staff as the Tigers' OC.
