Heading into Heisman weekend, Alabama’s star junior running back Derrick Henry is the favorite to win college football’s most coveted individual award. His status in pole position was bound to happen once he broke Herschel Walker’s single-season SEC rushing record and lead the Tide into the playoff.
While the reserved Henry has not openly stated his case for the award, he did recently talk of his esteem for the award and the significance of winning the stiff armed trophy.
"It would mean everything," Henry said. "It would be a dream come true. It makes my heart beat even thinking about it. I’m just going to take it all in and enjoy every minute. I’m just so blessed to be there and have this opportunity."
