FOX Four: The College Football Playoff rankings after Week 12
Every week until the official College Football Playoff field is announced, a group of FOX Sports broadcasters, writers and production staff will vote on the "FOX Four" -- our collective ranking of the current four best teams in the country. Here is how we would seed the playoff field after Week 12.
Other teams receiving playoff votes: Washington, USC
Next week on FOX and FS1 (all times ET): No. 6 Washington at No. 23 Washington State (Friday, 3:30 p.m. ET, FS1); No. 14 West Virginia at Iowa State (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, FS1); No. 12 Utah at No. 10 Colorado (Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, FOX)
After losing last week on a last second field goal to Pitt, Dabo Swinney's club bounced back in style with a dominant 35-13 victory over a pesky Wake Forest club. If the Tigers win their next two games -- next week against South Carolina and in the ACC title game -- they seem destined to make the playoff.
Like Clemson, the Wolverines bounced back in a big way, beating Indiana 20-10 Saturday on a snowy Senior Day in Ann Arbor. For Michigan, the road to the playoff is very direct: Win out, and they're in. It won't be easy though, starting with next week's trip to Ohio State.
Ohio State (10-1)
Like Michigan, Ohio State had to hold on for dear life in less than ideal weather conditions Saturday. The Buckeyes currently sit at No. 2 in our poll, but even if they win out, nothing is guaranteed. If they were to beat Michigan next Saturday, they would need a victory by Michigan State over Penn State to win the Big Ten East title.
Nick Saban wasn't happy after Saturday's 31-3 victory over Chattanooga, but you can't fool us, coach. Saban was really preparing his team for what awaits ahead: Auburn next week in the Iron Bowl and the Florida Gators in the SEC title game. All Alabama has to do is win one of two (even if it is hard to see them losing either) and they're in the playoff.
