Impact Washington suffered a foot injury during fall camp and it will cost him at least the first two games of the 2021 season. His next chance to suit up will be Sept. 18 against South Carolina.

Impact Smart's comments contradict a report earlier in the day suggesting Washington would be sidelined for the next 3-to-4 weeks, so it's probably best at the moment to just consider him questionable for the opener and to monitor his progress over the coming couple of weeks. If healthy, Washington figures to hold a starting spot at tight end if healthy and finished out 2020 with five catches for 105 yards on seven targets over his final two games played.
