Impact Noel was the surprise performer of the night for Appalachian State as he led the team in rushing yards, besting Camerun Peoples. A performance like that should afford Noel a steady role in the Appalachian State backfield moving forward.

Camerun Peoples - 100 yards, two touchdowns in opener Peoples had 14 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns against East Carolina.
Impact Appalachian State controlled the game on the ground, racking up 226 yards on 6.3 YPC. Peoples and Nate Noel split the backfield work and Noel actually out-rushed Peoples 126 to 100, but it was Peoples who found pay dirt twice. Noel projects to command some work moving forward, but Peoples still stands as the top back for Appalachian State.

Impact Getting a start for his third team, Brice looked sharp Thursday by completing 74 percent of his passes at 9.6 YPA. Brice did throw one interception, however, and those were a major issue last season when he threw 15 at Duke. A matchup against Miami in Week 2 will be a much tougher test.
