Tim Brando addresses the allegations against Michigan State's basketball and football programs ahead of the Spartans' matchup vs Wisconsin

- We've got a basketball game to cover here tonight. But sports, like life, is not immune to the news of the day. And much of that news, unfortunately for Michigan State, has centered around its program, its entire athletic department, and now extends to Tom Izzo's storied basketball program and Mark Dantonio's football team.

All this amid the verdicts against former Michigan State and United States Olympic gymnastics Dr. Larry Nassar. It's impacted the last three days here in East Lansing. On Wednesday, school president Lou Anna Simon resigned. And early this morning, an early retirement for athletic director Mark Hollis, a well-respected AD who, just two years ago, was the chairman of the NCAA tournament selection committee.

ESPN's "Outside the Lines," earlier this evening, reported allegations of past incidents that were allegedly unreported under Tom Izzo's reign, and the same being true for Mark Dantonio in football. Dantonio, just moments ago, had a press conference where he told everyone that he had expressly reported every major issue that had ever taken place with his football program, and that there would be no resignation.

I spoke with Tom Izzo just moments ago, who is now being reported as potentially retiring at the conclusion of the season. He said there's absolutely no truth to that report.

Now, the fact that Michigan State's facing additional allegations in the wake of a Title IX lawsuit that is under investigation right now is certainly noteworthy. However, he will tonight issue a statement, and in that statement, he will tell everyone that he will cooperate fully with any investigation that takes place.

Now, as it relates to the matter of this game, we'll get to that, and the impact that today's news has had on Tom's program, because he did address that with his team earlier today.
