CINCINNATI (AP) Xavier added a year to coach Chris Mack's deal on Tuesday, keeping him under contract through the 2022-23 season.

Mack is 17 wins away from becoming Xavier's all-time winningest coach as he enters his ninth season. Last season, the Musketeers recovered from a series of injuries to their top players and reached the Elite Eight before losing to Gonzaga. They return the nucleus of that team, including top scorer Trevon Bluiett.

Xavier has reached the NCAA Tournament in seven of Mack's eight seasons, advancing to the Sweet 16 four times. His 10 tournament wins are a school record. His teams are a combined 186-91.

Mack, 47, played at Xavier under Pete Gillen, who holds the school record with his 202 wins during nine seasons from 1985-94.
