Wright, Bisping combine for 54 points; Siena beats Cornell
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Marquis Wright tied a career-high with 31 points, Brett Bisping had 23 points and 15 rebounds, and Siena beat Cornell 89-78 on Sunday.
Wright was 9 of 18 from the field, including 4 of 8 from distance, and made all but two of his 11 free-throw attempts for his second career 30-plus-point game. Bisping was 8-of-11 shooting and made all three of his 3-pointers.
Wright iced it with two free throws with 79 seconds left to snap Siena's four-game losing streak in season openers.
Nico Clareth added 14 points and Javion Ogunyemi had 13 points for Siena, which made 11 3-pointers. Wright became the 42nd player in program history to join the 1,000-point club.
Siena closed the first half on a 27-8 run to take a 48-34 lead.
Stone Gettings and Matt Morgan each scored 16 points for Cornell (0-2). Robert Hatter had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Morgan added eight rebounds.
