Williams has 26 points, The Citadel beats Truett-McConnell
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Quayson Williams was 7 of 14 from beyond the arc to total 26 points and lead The Citadel to a dominating 119-90 win over NAIA's Truett-McConnell to give coach Duggar Baucom his 200th career win on Tuesday night.
Frankie Johnson was 7 of 9 from the floor for 17 points, Warren Sledge added 15 and Brian White chipped in 13 for The Citadel (2-1). Zane Jajdawi had nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Truett-McConnell stayed close, trailing 53-45 at the half, but the Bulldogs broke free in the second half, winning that period 66-45.
The Bears outshot the Bulldogs, hitting 47.1 percent from the floor, while The Citadel made 43.5 percent. However the Bulldogs nailed 15 of 48 from beyond the arc while limiting Truett-McConnell to 5 of 19 from long range.
David Campbell Jr led the Bears with 18 points and Tylor Brown added 17.
