Villanova picked first in Big East preseason poll

Villanova was picked as the unanimous preseason favorite in the Big East for the second straight year.

NEW YORK — For the second straight year, Villanova was picked, by a unanimous vote, to finish first in the Big East Preseason Coaches' Poll. The league released the preseason poll on Wednesday at the Big East Media Day at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Wildcats have captured the regular season title in each of the last two seasons and won the 2015 Big East Tournament championship this past March.

Georgetown, Butler, Xavier and Providence, all NCAA tournament teams from a season ago, round out the top half.
