VCU holds off St. Francis (Pa.) 63-57

Troy Daniels and Juvonte Reddic combined for 41 points and 16

rebounds to lead Virginia Commonwealth to a season-opening 63-57

victory against St. Francis (Pa.) on Friday night.

Daniels and Reddic posted career-highs in points and rebounds.

Daniels knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 22

points, while grabbing six boards and two steals. Reddic recorded

his first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

VCU led 36-37 at halftime but St. Francis fought back to within

three, 58-55, with 46 seconds to play thanks to a Umar Shannon


Daniels hit a 3-pointer of his own on VCU’s next possession to

secure the victory.

Shannon led all scorers with 26 points, but no other St. Francis

player scored over eight points.
