USC’s Dedmon injured in unofficial practice

Southern California forward Dewayne Dedmon broke his right hand

above the knuckle of his index finger during an unofficial practice

and his finger will be immobilized for 2-to-3 weeks.

Coach Kevin O’Neill said Wednesday that Dedmon got hurt the day

before. On Thursday he will be fitted with a cast, which will allow

him to practice defensive and non-contact drills. The Trojans begin

official practice on Friday.

Dedmon, a 7-foot sophomore, transferred to USC from Antelope

Valley (Calif.) College in January. He has three years of

eligibility left.
