UNC’s Berry to miss Georgia Tech game with stomach illness

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) North Carolina freshman Joel Berry II will miss Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech.

Team spokesman Steve Kirschner said the reserve point guard has a stomach illness, announcing his status about 30 minutes before tipoff.

Berry had recently returned from a seven-game absence due to a groin injury, tallying eight points and six assists in last weekend’s loss to Pittsburgh then five assists and one turnover in Wednesday’s loss to No. 4 Duke.

The No. 15 Tar Heels (18-8, 8-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) have lost four of five. The Tar Heels are playing their first home game in nearly three weeks against the Yellow Jackets.
