Tyler Hall sets Big Sky scoring mark for Montana St. in loss
CHENEY, Wash. (AP) — Jacob Davison scored 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting and Eastern Washington beat Montana State 85-81, spoiling Tyler Hall’s record-setting performance on Saturday.
Hall became the Big Sky Conference’s all-time leading scorer with a step-back 3-pointer that made it 10-5 with 17:27 left in the game. Hall entered the game needing two points to pass Eastern Washington’s Bogdan Bliznyuk (2,169) and scored 26 points to finish the game at 2,194 points for his career.
The Eagles (5-12, 3-3) never trailed in the second half and Mason Peatling’s layup with two minutes left made it 83-76. But Devin Kirby scored a 3-point play and Keljin Blevins made a jumper with 1:06 left to cut the Bobcats‘ deficit to two.
Peatling split a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left and Blevins missed a 3-point attempt that would have tied it for Montana State (7-10, 4-3) with two seconds left. Jesse Hunt split a pair of free throws to cap the scoring for Eastern Washington.
Tyler Kidd added 17 points, Hunt had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Peatling scored 13 for Eastern Washington.
