Tabb picks up Bethune-Cookman, holds off Coppin State 89-85 (Feb 17, 2018)

BALTIMORE (AP) Brandon Tabb scored a season-high 34 points and knocked down 5 of 6 from the free-throw line in the final 17 seconds as Bethune-Cookman held off Coppin State to earn an 89-85 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats entered the game tied for second place, two games behind Savannah State with four games left in the regular season, including a battle with the Tigers Saturday.

Kent Auslander hit a 3-pointer with :21 left to get Coppin State within two, 84-82, and Lucian Brownlee hit another with :09 remaining to make it 86-85. Tabb made the first of two free throws with :07 left to make it 87-85, then hit two more from the line three seconds later to set the final score.

Isaiah Bailey finished with 17 points and Shawntrez Davis added 15 for Bethune-Cookman (15-12, 9-3).

Brownlee scored 25 points to lead the Eagles, with Lamar Morgan adding 18.

Coppin State (5-23, 5-8) lost its first 17 straight. Since then the Eagles have gone 5-6.
