Sacred Heart 83, Bryant 77

Shane Gibson scored 24 points and Sacred Heart came on strong in

the final three minutes to claim an 83-77 victory over Bryant on

Saturday, ending a five-game losing streak.

Bryant led 40-37 at halftime and still was clinging to a

one-point lead with 3:06 left, after Frankie Dobbs made two free

throws. Chris Evans made a layup with 2:45 to go, putting the

Pioneers (10-17, 5-11 Northeast Conference) ahead for good and

igniting a 14-7 run to finish the game.

Louis Montes added 19 points, Evan Kelley had 14 and Evans had

13 as Sacred Heart sent the Bulldogs (9-19, 7-9) to their second

loss in a row.

Sacred Heart shot well all game, making 14 of 24 shots in the

first half and 14 of 27 in the second. But the key was restraining

Bryant, which shot 15 of 25 in the first half, to 10-of-28 shooting

in the second.

Cecil Gresham led Bryant with a season-high 29 points.
