Sacramento State pulls away to beat CSU Northridge 66-61 (Dec 19, 2017)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Joshua Patton had 16 points and eight rebounds to help Sacramento State beat CSU Northridge 66-61 on Tuesday night.

The Hornets (3-8) trailed 59-57 with 4:24 left and closed on a 9-2 run to win their second in the last three.

Sacramento State took its first lead in nearly seven minutes when Bryce Fowler's 3-pointer made it 62-59 with 2:55 left. Patton's dunk at 1:24 pushed the lead back to three and Izayah Mauriohoohoo-Le'Afa's free throws with 17 seconds left capped the scoring.

The Matadors (1-10) missed their last seven field goal attempts over the final four minutes.

Justin Strings added 14 points, and Fowler and Mauriohoohoo-Le'Afa added 10 points each. Jeff Wu had six points, seven rebounds and eight assists for Sacramento State.

Tavrion Dawson had 14 points and Micheal Warren added 11 for CSU Northridge.
