Rorie leads big first half in Montana's 79-49 victory (Dec 30, 2017)

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) Ahmaad Rorie scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half when the Grizzlies built a 19-point lead and Montana went on to a 79-49 victory over Southern Utah on Saturday.

Jamar Akoh added 12 points and Michael Oguine 11 for the Grizzlies (9-5, 2-0 Big Sky), who shot just shy of 50 percent in winning for the fourth time in their last five games. The Grizzlies had a 20-2 advantage in points off turnovers, making only six miscues to Southern Utah's 15.

Dwayne Morgan scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds (6-7, 0-2) came in averaging over 80 points per game but made only 15 of 57 shots for 26 percent in losing their third straight.

Akoh scored the first six points and Rorie the final nine during a 21-2 run in the first half that left the Grizzlies ahead 30-10.

The Grizzlies have won the last 11 games against the Thunderbirds.
