Ray's buzzer-beater 3 lifts Hofstra past Towson 76-73 (Jan 11, 2018)

TOWSON, Md. (AP) Justin Wright-Foreman scored 35 points with six 3-pointers and Jalen Ray's 3 at the buzzer lifted Hofstra to a 76-73 win over Towson on Thursday night.

Hunter Sabety grabbed Brian Starr's missed 3, Ray took the outlet pass, dribbled to about 25-feet out and got the shot away with defenders trailing the play.

Starr made two free throws with 26 seconds left for a 73-70 lead. Wright-Foreman tied it with his 3 with 17.7 seconds left.

Towson led 67-57 after Zane Martin made a pair of free throws with 5:22 left, but the Tigers committed turnovers on three straight possessions. Martin committed two of the turnovers and Wright-Foreman and Stafford Trueheart converted 3s to tie it at 67. Martin made a jumper for a 71-70 lead but missed two free throws on the next possession.

Eli Pemberton scored 12 points for Hofstra (10-7, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) and Rokas Gustys added 10.

Justin Gorham led Towson (12-6, 2-3) with 20 points, Martin, 17 and Eddie Keith II, 10.
