Rafferty scores 24, Lyons hits 7 3s; Furman beats Bob Jones

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Matt Rafferty had 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting and Jordan Lyons scored a career-high 23, including seven 3-pointers, to help Furman win its season opener 102-48 over Bob Jones on Tuesday night.

Clay Mounce added 12 points, on 5-of-5 shooting, and Mike Bothwell scored 11 for Furman. Ten different players scored for the Paladins, who scored 29 points off 21 Bob Jones turnovers.

Lyons hit two 3s and Jaylon Pugh and Mounce each added another during a 14-0 run that gave Furman a 32-14 lead with eight minutes left in the first half. Pugh hit another 3-pointer about two minutes later to spark an 8-0 spurt and Bob Jones trailed by at least 20 the rest of the way.

Jayson Barnhart had 13 points, Quiyante Burroughs added 11 and Zachary Orr 10 for the Bruins, members of the National Christian College Athletic Association.
