Prairie View A&M rolls to 94-82 win over Grambling State (Jan 16, 2017)

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) Zachary Hamilton scored 30 points, Troy Thompson pumped in a career-high 23 more and Prairie View A&M cruised to a 94-82 win over Grambling State on Monday night.

Tevin Bellinger picked up the first double-double of his career with 20 points and 11 rebounds for Prairie View (5-14, 2-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which hit 60 percent of its 55 shots (33) from the field. Hamilton shot 9 for 17 from the floor and Thompson was 8 for 12.

The Panthers raced out to a 23-9 lead in the first half, getting 3-pointers from Hamilton and Thompson in the opening run, and protecting the margin the rest of the way.

Grambling (7-12, 2-4) cut the deficit to single digits in the second half with Nigel Ribeiro's 3-pointer to trail 78-70 and then again with Remond Brown's layup with 1:52 left to make it 84-75 before the Panthers pulled away again.

Brown tied a career-best 25 points to pace Grambling.
