Poythress tweaks knee in Kentucky’s celebration
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Kentucky forward Alex Poythress tweaked his left knee during the team’s victory celebration Saturday night.
Poythress had eight points and seven rebounds in the 74-73 win against Wisconsin in an NCAA semifinal. But after Traevon Jackson missed the final shot and the buzzer sounded, the Wildcats’ bench stormed the court. Poythress said afterward that he ”just got caught on the bottom of the dog pile.”
He was screaming for teammates to get off him and was seen icing his knee later, but he told reporters in the locker room that ”I’ll be fine.”
The Wildcats (29-10), who advanced to play Connecticut in the national title game Monday night, already are without center Willie Cauley-Stein. The 7-footer injured aggravated an ankle injury it a regional semifinal against Louisville and missed the last two games.
