Potential game-winning shot ruined after St. Bonaventure students rush court early

They had it won, and then they didn't.

An early court-rushing at the end of Saturday's Atlantic 10 showdown between St. Bonaventure and VCU ruined what, by all accounts, should've been a heroic game-winning shot by the Bonnies.

With his team down 65-63 with 3.2 seconds left, St. Bonaventure's Matt Mobley hit a moving 3-point shot off an inbounds play to seemingly win the game.

St. Bonaventure students rushed the court, unaware that .4 seconds remained on the clock. After much ado, the court was cleared and the Bonnies were assessed a technical foul for fan interference. The ensuing free throw awarded to VCU tied the game and sent it overtime, where the Bonnies would lose, 83-77.

This is about the toughest way imaginable to lose a basketball game, and now we must all prepare for a worse menace: the gale of court-rushing takes that will descend upon sports media over the next seven days.
