Pepperdine tops Portland 75-64 to snap 8-game skid
Edwards also grabbed nine rebounds to help the Waves (5-25, 2-16 West Coast Conference) control the boards 42-29. Darnell Dunn notched his first double-double for Pepperdine with 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Trae Berhow had 14 points and Knox Hellums scored 10.
Pepperdine sank six of its eight 3-pointers in the first half and held Portland to 26 percent shooting in taking a 42-17 lead into intermission. The Pilots found their shooting touch in the second half, knocking down 15 of 27 attempts (56 percent) from the floor.
Portland trailed 51-27 midway through the second half before Tyson’s 3-pointer ignited a 19-4 run to pull the Pilots within 55-46 with 8:15 left. Edwards answered with six quick points to push Pepperdine’s lead back to double digits and the Waves cruised from there.
