BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Freshman Koreem Ozier scored 26 points and was one of six Sacred Heart players in double figures as the Pioneers beat Division III-member Western New England 114-72 on Monday night.

Earlier in the day, Ozier was named the Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week. His effort Monday followed his collegiate debut when he scored 23 points at Holy Cross on Nov. 6. It was the highest scoring game by an NEC freshman since Robert Morris' Marcquise Reed scored 24 against North Carolina on Nov. 16, 2014. Ozier also became the first Sacred Heart freshman to score at least 20 in a game since Cane Broom scored 23 against Bryant on March 4, 2015.

Ozier scored 14 of the Pioneers' first 30 points for a 30-7 lead over Western New England. E.J. Anosike and Aaron Clarke each scored 16 points for Sacred Heart (2-0).

Mikey Pettway scored 20 points for Western New England.
