North Dakota 65, Houston Baptist 63

Patrick Mitchell made two free throws with a second remaining

and North Dakota beat Houston Baptist 65-63 in the Great West

Conference tournament semifinals Friday night.

The third-seeded Fighting Sioux (18-14) advanced to Saturday’s

championship game to meet the winner of South Dakota and top seed

Utah Valley. The tournament winner will get a bid to the postseason tournament.

Houston Baptist (5-26) tied the game with 5 seconds to play when

Andrew Gonzalez made three free throws. Gonzalez led all scorers

with 24 points. The Huskies were 10 for 10 from the free-throw line

with Gonzalez making eight.

Troy Huff led North Dakota with 16 points. Mitchell scored 14,
