Isaiah Canaan scored 21 points and unbeaten Murray State
maintained control throughout as the Racers beat Arkansas State
66-53 on Saturday night in nonconference action to raise their
record to 12-0.
For Arkansas State (5-6), Edward Townsel scored the first eight
points for the Red Wolves (5-6), had 10 by halftime and finished
with 17 points, five assists and three steals. Nine of Townsel’s
points came on three 3-pointers. But the only other Arkansas State
player in double figures was Adam Sterrenberg, who came off the
bench to score 10 points.
Canaan had more help to go with his early hot hand. He scored 15
first-half points, hitting 5 of 8 shots from 3-point range. Ivan
Aska posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Donte
Poole was also in double figures, finishing with 11 points.
