South Carolina is off the Elite Eight after another smothering defensive effort. The Gamecocks cruised to a 70-50 win over No. 3 seed Baylor on Friday.

SEC Player of the Year Sindarius Thornwell led the way again, this time pouring in 24 points for the seventh-seeded Gamecocks. But while Thornwell captured the spotlight during the game, an even younger star with professional aspirations dominated the postgame press conference.

An SI Kids reporter questioned South Carolina coach Frank Martin about the team’s defensive preparation. Specifically, whether technique or attitude is more important. And Martin clearly was impressed by the question. Listen in:

South Carolina will face Florida on Sunday with a trip to the Final Four on the line. The Gamecocks and Gators met twice this season in SEC play – with each winning on its home court. For South Carolina to make it two out of three, it’ll need attitude and technique on the defensive end.
