Morgan State holds off Coppin State 71-66 (Feb 27, 2017)

BALTIMORE (AP) Tiwian Kendley scored 21 points, Kyle Thomas added 16 more and Morgan State held off a Coppin State rally in the second half for a 71-66 win Monday night.

Leading by as much as 19 after the break, Morgan State (14-14, 11-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) had to scramble as the Eagles rallied with a 14-2 run to trim the deficit to 66-64 with 1:31 to play. The teams traded buckets and then Morgan State clinched it with Kendley's 3 of 4 shooting from the line in the last 10 seconds.

David Syfax got 11 points and Phillip Carr had 10 for Morgan State, which shot 55 percent in the second half and finished 26 of 54 from the field overall. Syfax and Carr also hauled in 10 rebounds each.

Dejuan Clayton led Coppin State (8-22, 7-8) with 20 points and Chas Brown had 18.
