Morehead State beats Kentucky Christian 102-82 behind Green

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Malek Green scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds and experience-rich Morehead State defeated NAIA member Kentucky Christian 102-82 in Tuesday night's season opener, beating the Knights for the 10th straight time.

The Eagles return six starters from last season, including Green and De'von Cooper, who scored 16 points and hit a 3-pointer, continuing the Eagles' streak of scoring at least one trey in 373 consecutive games dating to Feb. 13, 2007.

Fellow returning starters Jordan Walker scored 13 points and A.J. Hicks added 10 with six assists for the Eagles, who never trailed and led 61-41 at halftime after hitting 26 of 43 from the field.

The Eagles outrebounded the Knights 48-24, including a 21-9 edge on offensive boards, and outscored them 12-2 on fast breaks and 33-8 on second-chance points.

Connor Maddox scored 22 points with six 3-pointers, Austin Robinson scored 21 points with eight rebounds and Juran Ligonde added 20 points for the Knights.
