Monmouth has successfully completed the second leg of a difficult three-game stretch during MAAC play.

The Hawks, who defeated two-time regular season champion Iona on Friday night, topped Siena, another conference contender, on Monday night. Justin Robinson scored his 1,000th career point in Monmouth’s 85-69 win.

In the closing minutes, he joined the team’s popular bench mob, taking the place of Daniel Pillari, who scored all seven of his points this season in his three minutes against the Saints.

The bench mob added to its sideline antics this season. The quartet pretended to give one member a Gatorade bath and two of them arm wrestled. Pillari hit two 3-pointers on the evening, but his most impressive play came on the sidelines. After a fast break three from Robinson, Pillari did his imitation of Allen Iverson stepping over Tyronn Lue in the 2001 NBA Finals.

Monmouth has now taken control of first place in the MAAC with six straight conference wins. The Hawks travel to Manhattan on Thursday night.
