With plenty of time left in his recruitment now that the early signing period has come and passed, the five-star originally from Chicago and now residing in San Diego has cut his list.

The teams on that list aren’t all that surprising as Arizona, UNLV, Oregon, San Diego State and Michigan State all made the cut. The Spartans were the rumored favorite just a couple of weeks ago, but the Oregon Ducks have since taken the lead, according to rumors and reports.

Many believe that this is the Spartans top target right now outside of Brian Bowen and if Tom Izzo could land him, it would be one of his biggest gets ever — up there with Miles Bridges. In fact, McCoy ranks as the No. 8 overall prospect in the country, according to 247Sports.

Imagine a recruiting class with McCoy, Bowen, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Xavier Tillman. That group of players might just top the class Izzo brought in this year and could give the Spartans the No. 1 team in the country prior to next season.

According to reports, McCoy is still supposed to visit East Lansing this weekend for the Ohio State game.
