Maine 78, Colgate 57

Gerald McLemore scored 15 points, Terrance Mitchell added 14 and

Murphy Burnatowski had 13 as Maine defeated winless Colgate 78-57

on Sunday.

The Black Bears (5-5) led 34-11 with 6:26 remaining in the

opening half after making their first six 3-point attempts.

Mitchell went 4 for 4 and McLemore was 2 for 4 on 3-point

attempts in the first half as Maine led 40-21 at the break.

The Raiders (0-9) closed the gap to 10, 42-32, with 13:03 left

to play, but a quick layup from Troy Barnies and McLemore’s fifth

3-pointer of the game extended Maine’s lead to 15.

Mitchell, McLemore and Burnatowski combined to go 11 of 18 from

3-point range (61.1 percent).

Pat Moore scored 13 points for Colgate, which has lost 10 in a

row dating to last season.

Maine shot 49.1 percent from the floor (26 of 53), including 11

for 20 from behind the arc (55 percent).
