LSU’s Ben Simmons named SEC Preseason Player of the Year

Ben Simmons, the potential top pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, was selected SEC Preseason Player of the Year.

LSU freshman forward Ben Simmons was named SEC Preseason Player of the Year on Wednesday morning at SEC Media Day in Charlotte.

Simmons, a 6-foot-10 forward from Australia, was picked by media members. Kentucky center Skal Labissiere and Mississippi State guard Malik Newman were two other freshmen to receive preseason honors.
