Lipscomb 99, Stetson 91

Deonte Alexander scored 27 points to lead Lipscomb to a 99-91

overtime victory over Stetson on Saturday.

The Bisons (12-13, 7-6 Atlantic Sun Conference) also won in

overtime, 104-103, when the teams played Jan. 16. In that one,

Jordan Burgason led Lipscomb with 24 points.

Burgason, however, was dismissed for an undisclosed violation of

team rules, the school announced Friday. The senior guard was

averaging 16.4 points and led the nation in 3-point shooting with

52.6 percent.

In his place, Alexander stepped up. The junior guard, who was

averaging 8.0 points, played 40 minutes and scored 10 of his points

in overtime, when Lipscomb never trailed.

A layup by Lipscomb’s Damarius Smith with 1 second left in

regulation forced the overtime. Smith scored 14 points and Marvin

Williams 16 for the Bisons.

Adam Pegg scored 18 points, Willie Green 17 and Joel Naburgs 16

for the Hatters (8-17, 5-9).
