King II, Heidigger help UCSB beat UC Riverside 65-57 (Jan 06, 2018)

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) Leland King II had his fourth consecutive double-double and Max Heidigger scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to help UC Santa Barbara beat UC Riverside 65-57 on Saturday night.

King hit four 3s and finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

King and Heidigger each hit a 3-pointer as UCSB (12-4, 1-1 Big West) opened a 10-2 lead fewer than three minutes in and never trailed. The Gauchos hit 17 of 30 (56.7 percent) from the field, including seven of their 11 3s, in the first half and took a 44-28 lead into the break. Heidigger and Marcus Jackson hit back-to-back 3-pointers during a 10-0 run to open a 24-point lead early in the second half, but UCSB missed 16 of its next 17 field-goal attempts, and committed six turnovers, as the Highlanders scored 21 of the next 23 points to trim their deficit 56-51 with five minutes to go. UCSB outscored the Highlanders 14-6 from there to seal it.

Chance Murray had 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and Alex Larsson scored 10 points with 11 rebounds and three blocks for UC Riverside (5-11, 0-2). The Highlanders have lost four in a row overall and are winless in 24 games at UCSB.
