James, Cabbil lead Liberty past Lipscomb 74-66

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Scottie James had 17 points to lead five Liberty players in double figures as the Flames topped Lipscomb 74-66 on Wednesday night.

Lovell Cabbil added 16 points for the Flames. Caleb Homesley chipped in 12, Myo Baxter-Bell scored 11 and Darius McGhee had 10. Homesley also had 10 rebounds for the Flames (22-5, 11-1 Atlantic Sun). Liberty's win leaves the two teams tied for first place in the conference.

Rob Marberry had 22 points for the Bisons (20-5, 11-1 Atlantic Sun), whose 11-game win streak was snapped. Garrison Mathews added 19 points. Ahsan Asadullah had 13 points.

The Flames evened the season series against the Bisons with the win. Lipscomb defeated Liberty 79-59 on Jan. 29.

Liberty will seek its fifth straight win on Saturday when the team travels to North Alabama.

Lipscomb takes on Kennesaw State on the road on Saturday.
