Ivey, Johnson have double-doubles in Akron's 66-56 win (Mar 03, 2017)

KENT, Ohio (AP) Jimond Ivey scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Akron pulled away in the last five minutes for 66-56 victory over Kent State on Friday night.

Noah Robotham had 12 points, and Isaiah Johnson added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Akron (24-7, 14-4 Mid-American Conference), which entered having already clinched the top seed into the conference tournament.

Jimmy Hall had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Kent State (18-13, 10-8), which had its five game win streak snapped and finished in fourth place in the East Division standings. Jaylin Walker had 13 points and Deon Edwin chipped in 12.

The Zips took the lead for good about five minutes into the second half. Kent State pulled to 56-53 with five minutes left before Akron closed on a 10-3 run to end it.
