Indiana fires head men's basketball coach Tom Crean

Indiana has fired head men's basketball coach Tom Crean after nine seasons, the school announced Thursday.

The news came down just minutes before tipoff of the NCAA tournament, along with an official statement from Indiana Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass.

Crean was 166-135 in nine seasons with the Hoosiers, including three Sweet 16 appearances. The team finished the 2016-17 season with an 18-16 record and a first-round loss to Georgia Tech in the NIT.
