Hicks leads Troy to 95-60 win against DII Fort Valley St.

TROY, Ala. (AP) — Alex Hicks scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Troy beat Division II Fort Valley State 95-60 on Tuesday in the season opener for the Trojans on Tuesday night.

The 35-point win tied the largest margin of victory in Trojan Arena. Troy beat Brewton-Parker 106-71 last year.

Javan Johnson tied his career high with 18 points and shot 5 of 6 from behind the 3-point arc. Zay Williams scored 11 points and had a game-high three blocks. The Trojans shot 51.6 percent from the field in winning their sixth straight home opener and third under current head coach Phil Cunningham.

Defensively, Troy held Fort Valley State to 29.4 percent shooting in the first half and led 41-21 at the break. The Trojans finished with 61-percent shooting in the second half and shot 50 percent (8 of 16) from 3-point range.

Jaylon McMillan lead Fort Valley State with 18 points.
