KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Martez Harrison scored 17 points and Missouri-Kansas City closed the game with a 21-6 run to defeat Cal State Bakersfield 66-63 on Thursday.
Frank Williams Jr. hit a 3-pointer with 5:14 left to start a 9-0 run that ended with two Harrison free throws that pulled the Kangaroos (7-13, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) with 57-54 at 3:16.
After Brent Wrapp made a free throw for the Roadrunners (5-14, 1-3), UMKC scored eight straight to lead 62-58 with 1:29 to go.

Bakersfield scored on consecutive possession but the Kangaroos were making their free throws, the last two by Harrison for the final margin with 26 seconds left. After a Roadrunner turnover, Reese Holliday missed two free throws at nine seconds but Javonte Manyor’s game-tying attempt was blocked with a second left.
Tyrell Corbin led Bakersfield with 16 points, Dashawn Richmond had 15 and Maynor 14.
