Villanova freshman cleared for return, practices Thursday

Villanova freshman big man Mouphtaou Yarou, who was diagnosed with

hepatitis B back in November, has been cleared to resume basketball

activities and practiced on Thursday.

“We’re excited for Mouph,” Villanova coach Jay Wright said in

a statement. “The doctors tell us he has responded well to

treatment. We’ll see where he’s at once he is back practicing with

us and then make a determination on when he’s ready to return to

game action.”

The 6-foot-10 Yarou is considered one of the top freshman in

the country and started the first two games while averaging 5.0

points per game before being sent home from the Puerto Rico

Tip-Off.

Wright felt that Yarou would likely be done for the season,

but now it appears as though he will end up playing this season for

a team capable of returning to the Final Four.

Villanova’s next game comes Saturday at Marquette.
