Georgetown beats Maryland Eastern Shore 68-53

WASHINGTON (AP) — Jessie Govan scored 13 points, freshman Josh LeBlanc had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Georgetown beat Maryland Eastern Shore 68-53 on Tuesday night.

Patrick Ewing begins his second year as the Georgetown coach, looking to build off a 15-15 season a year ago.

Jamorko Pickett made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points for Georgetown, which has won all nine games in the series. James Akinjo had seven assists in 26 minutes and Trey Mourning made the first start of his career.

Georgetown led 31-21 at halftime with 10 points from Govan, who averaged 17.9 points and 10 rebounds last year. The Hoyas' lead reached 19 early in the second half and they led by double figures the rest of the game.

A.J. Cheeseman scored 19 points in his debut for UMES. Ryan Andino was 2 of 11 from 3-point range and UMES was 4 of 23. The Hawks will travel to face ACC foe North Carolina State on Saturday.
