Garth hits five 3-pointers in Lamar's victory (Feb 22, 2017)

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Nick Garth made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points in 19 minutes of play, Colton Weisbrod added 16 points and Lamar defeated Northwestern State 88-68 on Wednesday night.

The Cardinals (16-12, 8-7) snapped a three-game losing streak and are on the verge of clinching a berth in the eight-team Southland Conference tournament with three regular-season games remaining.

Joe Frenchwood added 11 points for Lamar, which shot 53 percent in the first half, while the Demons were making only 1 of 12 3-point attempts as the Cardinals took a 43-23 lead and led comfortably the rest of the way.

Zeek Woodley, the second-leading scorer in Northwestern State history, returned after an eight-week absence after breaking his wrist on his shooting hand and scored 16 points.

Sabri Thompson added 12 points and Devonte Hall and Ishmael Lane 10 each for the Demons (10-16, 4-11).
