NEW ORLEANS (AP) Nate Frye scored a career-high 27 points and Christavious Gill scored six points in overtime and New Orleans defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 73-72 on Saturday night.

Gill's free throw with 1:02 to play put the Privateers up 71-70, and after a turnover, made a layup with 45 seconds left. Rashawn Thomas had a putback with 38.6 seconds to go for the Islanders and Gill missed a 3 with the shot clock winding down. Ehab Amin couldn't convert on the other end as time ran out

Gill and Erik Thomas finished with 17 points apiece for the Privateers (7-6, 2-0 Southland Conference), who opened with two league wins for the first time in 10 seasons.

Amin finished with 25 points and Thomas 23 for the Islanders (7-5, 0-1).

Frye went the length of the court for a layup with four seconds left before Amin weaved his way through traffic and drove down the middle for an Islanders' layup as time expired at the end of regulation.
