FAU beats Incarnate Word; best start since entering DI

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Anthony Adger scored 19 points and Florida Atlantic downed Incarnate Word 71-68 in the Island of the Bahamas Showcase on Sunday.

In improving to 4-1, Florida Atlantic is off to its best start since moving to the Division I level.

Incarnate Word led 29-28 at halftime, and after intermission, Florida Atlantic went on a 13-0 run for a 55-43 lead — their first double-digit advantage lead of the game with 10:16 remaining.

The Owls got a 17-point, six-rebound effort from Jaylen Sebree. Jailyn Ingram scored 15 and made all nine of his free throws and Xavian Stapleton scored 10 points. Florida Atlantic managed to overcome its 18 turnovers compared to just eight for Incarnate Word (4-3).

Sophomore Augustine Ene led Incarnate Word with 18 points and freshman Morgan Taylor scored 13 points and distributed six assists.
