Evans scores 28 points in Texas Tech's 93-67 win

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) Keenan Evans scored 28 points to lead Texas Tech over Houston Baptist 93-67 on Friday to clinch a victory for new Red Raiders coach Chris Beard on opening night.

The Red Raiders took the lead going into the locker room at the end of the first period, 45-36, over the Huskies. Evans got 18 of his points in the first half.

The Red Raiders led the majority of the game and went on a 14-4 run to begin the second half.

Four Red Raiders finished in double digits. Aaron Ross contributed 13 points, Anthony Livingston scored 16 and Shadell Millinghaus finished with 11.

Zach Smith recorded three of the team's four blocks. Tech finished with 20 assists.

Atif Russell scored 16 points and Josh Ibarra added nine to lead the Huskies.

Tech shot 33 of 54 from the field to Houston Baptist's 22-of-58.
